Tony Romo is making headlines away from the football field.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and current CBS Sports analyst was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee on suspicion of operating while intoxicated (OWI), according to reports.
Romo was pulled over yesterday around 8 pm and taken into custody after performing poorly on standard field sobriety tests. He’s due in court on Sept. 21.
Romo, who spent his entire NFL playing career with the Cowboys before becoming one of the league’s most recognizable broadcasters, was reportedly stopped by authorities and later taken into custody. He was booked and released, with a court appearance scheduled for Sept. 21.
The arrest comes as Romo continues his high-profile role as CBS Sports’ lead NFL analyst, where he has become known for his energetic commentary, play predictions, and chemistry alongside play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz.
Romo retired from the NFL in 2017 after a successful 14-year career that included four Pro Bowl selections and more than 34,000 passing yards. Since transitioning into broadcasting, he has remained one of the most prominent former players in sports media.
Neither Romo nor CBS Sports has released a public statement regarding the situation.
